What is nested data?

Within codeit, Nested data refers to data that has multiple answers that need to be spread across multiple variables for import or export, but need to be read as one question.  Read this guide to understand more about nested data and its formats.

Why do we need to consider nested data in codeit?

Nested data is stored differently in many different data analysis software packages and codeit can handle many of them. This data needs to be displayed in a certain way for efficient coding, which is usually handled by flagging which questions are nested during the import process, either manually or by using a specific labelling for nested data questions.

The process for nesting your data after import

If you imported data and for some reason forget to apply the nesting, you can do so after import.  This video guide shows you the steps to do this.

Each of the steps and options covered in this video has a tooltip that is shown in the software itself and listed in the Data Import Wizard Options ExplainedYou can also find out more about the import settings that you can change at company level in this guide: Data Import Company Settings.
