Introduction
When manual coding, it is usually most efficient to use the coding text box next to each Verbatim in the codes column. If you are very familiar with the Codeframe, you may find it quickest to simply type the code you want to apply.
This page explains the actions required to do this.
Actions Required
- Select a Verbatim or set of Verbatims in the Verbatims table:
- Within the coding text box, type the code you want to apply. A drop down list will appear containing all items that contain the text entered:
- Use your mouse to click the item you want to apply from the drop down list, or use your arrow keys to select the item and press enter to apply the selected code.
- The item applied will also show a green tick in the Codeframe Panel to show that it is applied to the selected Verbatims:
Reapply Code to Remove
Applying a code using the method above will have the effect of removing it from any selected Verbatims that have that code applied. If the selected Verbatims contain Verbatims that do not have that code applied, the action will be ignored for these Verbatims - i.e. there is no code removed so the action has no effect on those Verbatims.
