Introduction
When you import survey data, it's important to tell codeit what language(s) your respondents have answered your survey in.
The language assigned to each interview drives various features in codeit such as translation, coding allocation and the AI autocoding.
Surveys and data can vary in complexity - some surveys are conducted in a single language, some surveys are conducted in a mix of languages - so codeit provides options to handle the full range of possibilities you might encounter.
Actions Required
On the Select Languages page, you should select one of the options below to tell codeit where to draw the language information from during import.
Option | Description |
---|---|
Single Language | Select this option if all of your records are in a single language. This option is selected by default and the language selected will be the default language for your account. |
Language Field | Select this option if your data is in multiple languages and contains a column (e.g. Country) that identifies the language for each respondent. |
Auto Detect | Select this option if your data is in multiple languages but there is nothing in your file to denote the language for each respondent. During import, codeit will assign a language to each respondent using autodetection. This option should be used as a last resort since autodetection is not 100% accurate. |
