This article shows explanations of each of the elements of the manual coding panel shown on the right-hand side of the coding screen.
The manual coding panel has options and information that can be found in each of the below elements as shown in the image and explained either on this page or via the links shown:
The headings of each column from ID to 'Length' (shown below image)

Coding Panel Headings
Item | Description |
---|
ID | The record ID for each verbatim to be coded. |
Verbatim | The original verbatim to be coded. The bottom right corner of each also indicates any flags or comments applied. |
Codes | Shows the codes applied to each text item. The codes applied to each record can be edited by typing in the corresponding textbox. |
Context Variables (columns to the right of the 'codes' column) | These columns will contain the context variables that you have selected for this task. Context variables are the additional related values that can help add context to each text item or to use as Filters (for example, age and gender). |
Length | Shows the number of characters in each text item, including spaces.
