As part of the multi-lingual project process, you may wish to export translations.
Why export translations?
If you have a coding team in the master language only, but have a survey completed in several languages, you will need to get the verbatims translated before the coding team can work on them. codeit enables you to export translations for manual translation by a translator or translation agency. codeit exports the file in a standard format (known as the 'translation feed file') that can be easily reimported back into codeit later once translation has been completed.
Exporting translations in codeit
Watch this guide on the export process within codeit. Translations can be exported within codeit via the export wizard. The file exported is sometimes known as a 'translation feed file'. There are several parameters that can be adjusted for your specific needs in translation export, which are described in detail in the export wizard guide.
The translation feed file is downloaded as a zip file, within which there is a separate Excel file for each source-target language pairing. For example, "es-en" (Spanish to English), "fr-en" (French to English) etc. Only variables added as a source variable within a task can be exported and any records in a language that matches the project base language will not be exported (because they don't need to be translated).
The layout of the exported file is shown below:
The layout consists of the following four fields;

| ID | The internal Codeit Id value for the verbatim. Including this column makes it easy to feed translations back into the system using the Import File tool once translations are complete. |
| VariableName | For context, the name of the variable that the verbatim is attached to. |
| VariableValue | The verbatim in the original language |
| TranslatedValue | The translated equivalent for the verbatim text. This will be blank if no translation already exists. This field can be completed by the linguist and imported into Codeit using the Import File tool. |
